How the Calculator Works
The Ohio Turnpike calculates tolls based on the distance between your entry and exit interchanges, multiplied by the per-mile rate for your vehicle class and payment method. The raw amount is then rounded to the nearest $0.25. Our calculator replicates this official methodology using the 2026 rate schedule published by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.
One detail that catches many drivers off guard is that eastbound and westbound tolls may differ slightly for the same pair of interchanges. This happens because the toll collection points are not positioned at exactly the same mile markers in both directions. The difference is usually small, typically one or two dollars on a long trip, but our calculator accounts for it by automatically detecting your direction of travel based on the entry and exit you select.
Vehicle classes on the Ohio Turnpike range from Class 1 (passenger cars and most personal vehicles) through Class 7 (vehicles with 7 or more axles). If you are driving a standard car, pickup, van, or SUV with two axles and a height under 7 feet 6 inches, you are Class 1. Motorcycles are also classified as Class 1. If you are towing a trailer, count the total number of axles on your entire rig to determine your class. For example, a pickup towing a single-axle trailer is 3 axles total, which makes it Class 3.
All toll figures shown are sourced from the official 2024-2028 Schedule of Tolls available at ohioturnpike.org. Rates are updated annually each January. The 2026 increase was 2.7%, consistent with the multi-year rate adjustment schedule approved by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission. The next scheduled increase will take effect on 1 January 2027.
